What We Do:

Our main reason for being is to create theatre productions that reflect the Canadian experience of the past, present and future. We produce between 5 and 7 shows every season. These plays are performed in our 300 seat theatre and rehearsed in our studio theatre / rehearsal hall space.

We are very active in play development as a means of supporting Canadian playwrights and building the repertoire of Canadian plays. We have an active play development program that is facilitated by our part-time staff dramaturge.

At Studio 275 we not only produce our own theatre productions we also enable the work of other theatre artists and visual artists by leasing our facilities to various user groups when we do not require them.

Our rental facilities include:
The rest of our facilities, that are used for Studio 275 purposes only, include:
We outsource the management of our Cafe area. The Cafe is popular not only with our theatre patrons but it attracts many people who are visiting the gallery shows that are presented in the Gallery space.

In our most recent strategic planning exercise we identified the following as our long-term goals for the next 5 years (this list is not prioritized):
  1. Create a playwright's residency program.
  2. Establish an after-school theatre program for new Canadian teenagers.
  3. Ensure that at least 1 of the plays that we have developed in our play development programming is given a premiere production in our season.
  4. Have year round gallery activity in the gallery space that we rent to user groups.
  5. Conduct a feasibility study on the establishment of a theatre school and enact if it proves to be feasible.
  6. Increase our productions to 10 per season.
