The Audio Glossary Project is
the result of a request from Dr. Lesley Lovett-Doust of the Biology
department. Lesley wanted a web–based version of the glossary that
had come from one of her course text books.
Between Don and Lesley
came the idea of making it an audio glossary.
Terry
Collins, Assistant Application Developer at CFL, created this
glossary using Flash MX®.
Students could hear the terms being pronounced and read the term’s
definition. The glossary is searchable by letter and term. The
current glossary being used contains 492 terms, definitions and
audio files. Lesley has already contacted us about creating another
glossary for an additional course. The glossary has also been
submitted by Gail Johnson of the Centre for Flexible Learning to be
considered for an award.
Its design, like most others is template-like in nature.
This means that with a minimal amount of work, the glossary can be rebuilt for
other purposes.
