23.  Online Student Survey:  Forms & Data Collection

The Design, Development and Research group (DDR) supports requests from the Distributed learning group for Web-based student surveys.  The surveys are sometimes used by instructors at the beginning of a course to find out what student interests are or what students expect to learn from the course.  Sometimes a Web form is used to provide students with a way to introduce themselves to each other.  Surveys are also being used mid way through a semester and at the end to assess student satisfaction with the course.

Web surveys are built on-demand.  Some course management systems (CMS) include an authoring tool for creating surveys.  This is a feature which will be considered in the process of assessing the next generation CMS for the university.
