The CFL collaborated with Dr. Janet Flewelling and Donna Ryan,  instructors in the Faculty of Education, on a $2,500 grant to produce learning objects to support literacy skills development of elementary school children.  The goal of this project is to support teachers in helping primary/junior level students to achieve the expectations presented in Ontario curriculum guidelines, in particular Language, 1-8 (Ministry of Education and Training, 1997) and The Arts, 1-8 (Ministry of Education and Training, 1998).  The project partners will create thematic, multimedia, computer-based learning materials and will plan related activities which will provide interactive learning opportunities for students.  The thematic activities will be based on songs written in English and in French by Donna Ryan, a retired Windsor elementary school teacher.  Digitization will be done by the Centre for Flexible Learning.  The songs will be illustrated by Sil Pupulin, a retired Windsor teacher and multimedia activities will be created by Donna Ryan and Jan Flewelling.

The project is to be completed by September 2004.
